Hi - Using ARI Image Slider and very nice it is too. However, the load of my home page (with the slider) is very slow. It seems that the Slider loads all the images from the named directory at one go. I have about 40 images with a total size of about 2.8 Mbytes.

Other than using fewer images, or making them smaller - can you suggest any other way to speed up this initial load ? Can I get the slider to only load images when it needs them ?

"ARI Image Slider" uses "Nivo Slider" jQuery plugin and it is implemented in way to load all images.

My problem looks similar:
(www.katayu.at)

initial load time is about 3 to 4 seconds,
slide show consists of 6 pictures
each appr. 25KB
this should't be too much.
Any further hint?

Try to set "Load method" parameter to "DOM Ready" in module settings.

attached are my current settings;
load method is called "Load jQuery method" and only allows for "Google CDN" or "Local copy", i.e. no DOM ready

FYI: Joomla is version 2.5.3
