We've encountered an issue with the Contact Form 7 Connector plugin while integrating our contact form with MailerLite. We only collect the first name and email, but the plugin duplicates the first name into the last name field, even though we haven't set it up that way.

MailerLite support has reviewed our setup and confirmed that their API receives the data correctly, meaning the issue likely comes from the plugin.

Has anyone experienced this problem or knows how to fix it?

Hello,

Have you checked app and debug logs? Enable logs on "CF7 Connector -> General" page ("Application Log" and "Debug Log"), try to subscribe and then check logs.

Thanks for your previous response! I’ve reviewed the logs as suggested – and also want to share something important I’ve discovered.

We use two types of signup forms on our website:

A form built using Contact Form 7 + CF7 Connector

A native MailerLite form, embedded directly

➡️ Both forms only ask for first name and email.
➡️ However, only the CF7 Connector version results in the first name being duplicated into the last name field in MailerLite.
➡️ The embedded native form does not cause this issue.

This clearly points to the plugin as the likely source of the problem.

I also want to add that both “Application Log” and “Debug Log” have been enabled from the beginning, and based on what I’ve reviewed (and even shared externally), the plugin logs only show a single name field being passed.
There is no indication of a last_name field being created or sent via API.

This suggests the plugin may be duplicating the name value internally and mapping it to both first_name and last_name – but this behavior is not shown in the logs.

Could you confirm if the plugin handles the name field this way by default?
And more importantly – is there a way to prevent this duplication and send only one field to MailerLite?

We have a field name and a field email. But in MailerLite it duplicate the name also to the last name.

Hi. Unfortunately, I was unable to resolve the issue. ASI Soft suggested a solution, everything was set up according to their recommendations, but the problem persisted. I also discussed it with MailerLite support, and they told me that the problem was not on their side, but on the side of the provider ARI Soft. So they passed me around like a hot potato, but the problem was not solved. I found another solution—a different plugin. If you manage to solve it another way, I would love to know how you did it.
