I don't know when it happened but the display page for my database on the web site frontend now never completes and has "Processing" displayed on it.

Any advice on how to proceed?

Upgrade the extension to the latest version (including "ARI Smart Content - Data Table" add-on) and clean browser's cache.

Do I need to uninstall and re-install or just install again the new version?

Is doesn't require to uninstall previous version of the extension. Install a new version via standard Joomla! installation page over installed one.
