submenus not displaying

Well I'm using beez_5 and beez_20 which were already installed. The hover works fine and changes colors nicely but no submenus appear. The arrow appears on the top menu indicating that there are in fact submenus but when hovered over nothing happens. I'm thinking that something is overwriting the submenus or they're being hidden behind another template but i don't know where or which one. There is no way for you to see the website but the menu is in the top banner with a slider directly underneath. I tried adding this css to "CSS Styles" BODY #ja-mainnav{z-index: 30000;} but nothing happened
