Set "Hightlight current menu item" parameter to "Yes" in module settings and choose appropriate color in "Main menu items styles -> Current text color" parameter.

I would like to make the grey transparent and then make the width of the submenu smaller

I have tried adding both of the aforementioned CSS Styles to my Module "CSS Styles" but there is no change at all.

Any guidance?
