It seems like from what I read I got the correct solution, but I'm not sure. I have joomla 1.5, and I've been looking for over a year for a solution to databasing needs. I used to program my sites in Dreamweaver and use MS Access as my database. I'm got pretty proficient at joomla over the past 3 years but still need a nice front end user data entry form that stores the info to a database. I need to be able to display that data to our management team via graphs and charts. I also need to be able to edit the data once it's in the database. I've not found any such thing for joomla and have seen many others needing that functionality. I do not know how to program in SQL nor even know where to start. So this looks as though I could possibly just have my users either enter their data in MS Excel and then convert it to .CSV and pull the graphs that way? I currently have JForms installed on my site and wonder if there is a way to have someone enter the data via a JForm and ARI Data Tables pull the info from the form? Any assistance in accomplishing this would be so GREATFUL!

Thanks,

Justin

I tried converting an excel file into a .csv since my first posting and used the plugin to attach it in an article. It didn't work very well.

I've attached an excel sheet on how the teams are currently tracking these results. Excel is never a great solution when multiple people need to edit entries or view the results. The server this is currently listed on is slow for others in the region to access it. I've been requested to do a few things:

Make a simple way for the trainers to enter data online
Make a way that our directors can look at the status by manager team and by trainer.

The excel document attached is just 1 manager team. We have a total of 7 manager teams that consist of 10 to 15 techs per team. There are appx 12 trainers.

This is just 1 of multiple solutions I'd like to setup on our regional tech site. If there is some sort of other applications I need to purchase as well I'm okay with that if it will give me the solution I need of having people be able to enter data like they would in a database, be able to update those entries if needed from the front end of the joomla website, and list results by various methods of (graphs, charts, sortable tables).

Thanks and I hope so much that your the ARI company can provide a solution that I've been searching for since I started using joomla 3 years ago.

Hello,

The extension doesn't support ability to add, edit or remove data. It is used to show data from databases and CSV files and it doesn't work with Excel files.

It is possible to create a document on Google Docs export it to CSV format and specify link to file from Google in module settings. In this case peoples can modify data using "Google Docs" server and it will be shown on your site with help of "ARI Data Tables" extension.

I've attached one more document to outline a way I think ARI can help me, but need a little further information to get started. Thank you so much in advance for helping me utilize your application!

Cheers,

Justin

It is not possible to created reports which you described based on one CSV file which you sent. It is possible to achieve it if work with data from database.

Can you send me a few sample .csv files. I can try and work from those. Just like the ones you use for your demo site. Thanks
