Hi

Is there a disadvantage to using a CSV file as source compared to a sql database?

Hello,

It depends on what data do you want to show. CSV is text file with simple format. It is useful if data is not related with other data (in SQL with data from other tables).

With a small amount of rows (2700), each containing 8 columns I got exactly a one second speed advantage on mysql vs csv. So database seems better.

I tested two database engines, MyISAM and InnoDB, no speed difference in between them.
