Create/edit calendar
Calendar parameters are grouped by categories and it is possible to switch between them using tabs. Four groups of parameters are available:
- Main settings contains main parameters like name, description, color and etc.
- Events source contains parameters which are used to retrieve data from the selected source.
- Metadata is used to define meta tags for better SEO.
- Access & Security contains parameters which are used to grant permissions for some actions (add, delete, edit and etc.) for the calendar and events.
An additional section is available at right side of the page. It is used to set parameters like state, access levels, language and etc. which are used on frontend. These parameters are described in Frontend Access section.

Main settings
- ID is record number in the database. Can be used by a 3rd party extension to manipulate with the entity.
- Name is a name of the calendar.
- Template is template which will be used for the calendar by default if another template is not selected in menu item settings (module, plugin settings).
- Color is a color which is used for the calendar and calendar's event. It can be use as text or background color.
- Description is a description of the calendar.
Event source
It is possible to retrieve events from the following source:
- CSV file is used to show data from a CSV file as events.
- Database selects data from Joomla! database based on an SQL query.
- K2 items retrieves K2 items based on search parameters and show them as events. K2 extension should be installed.
- Joomla! articles selects Joomla! articles based on search parameters and show them as events.
- User's defined events is used to create events manually.
Metadata
- Meta title is an optional text which will be used as title in a browser on "Calendar" page on frontend.
- Meta description is an optional paragraph which will be used as the description of "Calendar" page on frontend in the HTML output. This will generally display in the results of search engines.
- Meta keywords is an optional comma-separated list of keywords and/or phrases to be used on the HTML output.
Access & Security
It is possible to override some default ACL rules
Frontend access
- State is used to publish/unpublish calendar. Unpublished calendars are not shown on frontend.
- Language is the language that the calendar is assigned to. The calendar will be shown on frontend is the language is matched with current site's language.
- Access only users who belong to a user group from the selected access level will have access to the calendar on frontend.
- Access events content only users who belong to a user group from the selected access level will have access to content of calendar's events otherwise 'Busy' text will be shown. If the parameter is set to '- Inherited -', value of Access parameter will be used.
