Now these provide ability of using pretty lightbox in any Joomla! content, for example in VirtueMart product description or in other content. Extensions also can create thumbnails and create popups with large images from inline content images. Only wrap necessary content with plugin tag.

ARI Smart Content: News Pack is a Joomla component which is a light version of ARI Smart Content extension. This component contains only plugins which provide abilities for creating Joomla article slideshow or scrolling Joomla content. It helps to create powerful customizable Joomla news scollers. The component is expandable and it allows to add new plugins which you can find in plugins repository. ARI Smart Content: News Pack contains the following plugins for improving your Joomla! content:

ARI JAccordion allows you to provide multiple panes and display them one or many at a time, in other words it provides accordion functionality for Joomla. It contains many settings which help you to tuning it for your purpose. Moreover, this plugin provides ability populate accordion news from your Joomla system.
ARI JScroller provides ability for scrolling any HTML content in Joomla articles.
ARI JTabView is another tabs plugin for Joomla. It is used to separate content of Joomla article into multiple sections that can be swapped to save space. It contains tons of options. Moreover, this plugin provides posibility fill tabs articles from your Joomla system.
ARI MooNewsTicker can scroll content blocks or articles from your Joomla system. It contains different options for customizing articles that should take part in Joomla articles slideshow.
ARI JNews Slider is another plugin for scrolling content blocks or articles from your Joomla system. It contains different options for configuring articles that should take part in Joomla articles slideshow.
ARI JTruncate provides simple yet customizable truncation for text entities in your web page. Can show only part of text and show full text on demand. Can be useful for large Joomla articles.

How to use plugins everywhere, not only in the articles?

You can use System - ARI Smart Content Joomla! system plugin for Joomla 1.5 or ARI Smart Content Anywhere module for Joomla 1.0. Install plugin or module, configure and enable it and disable 'ARI Smart Content' Joomla! content plugin. That's all.

Can I combine plugins in some way?

Sure. For example, you can use SQLTable plugin to get data from database and render the table and you can wrap it with FlexTable plugin to make it sortable and resizable:

ARI Smart Content: News Pack works in Joomla 1.0.x and Joomla 1.5 (Native). The component requires PHP 4.2+ and MySQL 4.1+.

ARI Smart Content: News Pack is absent on Joomla! Extensions Directory due to new JED policy, you can read about it here.
