Do you use RGBA color correctly? Try to read this article first: CSS3: semi-transparent background color using RGBA. Also, if you need it to be supported in older browser (IE), try to use PIE.

I read this post and can not figure out where it controlled the background color of the buttons. I discovered how to change the color of the button when the cursor is over it and modify the position of the arrows indicate that there are sub-item but not the background color!
