Hi,

First, compliment for ARI Data Tables - it's easy to use, flexible, and does what i need it to do.

However, I have a page with numerous Data Table modules, am hiding the tables with CSS so that only the CSV export buttons are displayed. Trouble is that on click on either one the default file name is always the same:
[menu item] - [site name]

Been looking through files to find where this is set, and the only one where I could find at least something similar is TableTools.min.js, though that doesn't seem to be it.

I should be ok with writing a code snippet for the suggested file name to reflect something more "table specific", but can you please give me a pointer to where (as e.g. in "which file") I can do such customisation?

Hello,

Currently the extension doesn't support ability to change name of exported file. It is generated in <joomla_directory>/modules/mod_aridatatables/includes/js/widgets/datatable/plugins/tabletools/swf/copy_csv_xls_pdf.swf file.

Hmm, I was sure hoping it to be PHP or so, but in fact it's an SWF (no wonder I didn't find any hints when scanning the files, haha!), and obviously there's nothing I can do without the initial FLA.

You may, or may not, agree that it would be great to have one of the following features to make the default file name "better" = more distinct than now. IMHO, it would improve the export feature tremendously, not only but especially when there are multiple modules on a single page.

Suggestions:
Instead of the current [menu item title] - [site name]

either use at least

• [module title] - [yyyy-mm-dd], where the date is the current timestamp, of course

or better yet

• have a text field in the "ARI Data Table > Show export buttons" section of the module backend which, if not empty, replaces the current default file name,


• and offer variables such as timestamp, module title or current user object, for insertion

I can think of even more sophisticated solutions, but I believe something like this would do in the vast majority of cases. And I'm sure it's all in good hands with you, anyway.

As a short-term workaround I'd be glad if I could only "abuse" the table caption field for the purpose, because the caption is used nowhere else in my present case.
However, considering that my client needs several pages with 6 or more sets of export buttons each for different tables, I bet you can see that the present way is far too "generic".

So, it'd be fantastic if you could look into this a bit more and either extend the ARI Data Table option with a "new feature", or help me with implementing a workaround.

Seeing your response, here I am right away to say thank you... happy to read your post!

Now, after my indicating that I'm a bit in a hurry with my project, which is getting near its deadline and the client finding the present default naming of files "unacceptable", demanding a "fix", you know what the next question is, lol...: When?

If you'd need - understandably - some time before anything would make it into "a future version", again, a temporary workaround would be ok here, but I fear I'm completely depending on your help with it, in which form ever.

Open for any ideas... and "near future" dates, of course!
