When I save the module, my specified directories do not get saved, hence, no pictures are showing up.

This problem can occur if "ARI Extensions" plugin is not installed or disabled.

That's what it was.

Question: the extension is very thorough, and with lack of knowledge on my end and to save me some time.

I would like to be able to show single images for multiple folders in a joomla module for example, one image for boats, one image for bikes, one image for cars... then one clicked the pop-up lightbox would show only the images for that folder.

What would be the configuration to do that ?
