Hey there,

we are using the jQuery UI Dialog and experience the same problem! Opacity works for other elements, but not for the overlay. Also the jQuery UI Dialof (with modal) works as demo but not on our website. Problem persists on IE8 on different PCs (all Windows 7) but not all (5 tested, only 3 having the issue).

I was not able to find any other post which describes the problem nor finding a solution. Ive tried differet CSS styles for opacity and even meta tags to force IE into a render mode. Everything without success. Any ideas?

Sorry, no public demo yet and I was not able to reproduce the problem in a fiddle or static HTML files.

We've tried to replace the CSS opacity with a semi transparent png which works pretty nice. I would be interested in a solution but we have no idea where to search for the problem.
