How would I go about doing that? Is it a hard thing to do?

I just solved my own problem. All you have to do is go into the style.css file for the theme you're working with. At the very top all you have to do is add the background code like this.

	margin: 0 auto;

	background:transparent url(images/slidebg.png) no-repeat 100% 100%;

}

The background image you design will show up right behind the image in the slideshow. You might have to adjust the position of the images though to fit perfectly in the background graphic.
