"When I adjust the padding the borders don't shift with the buttons, I there a way to fix this?," or do I need to add extra space in my images?

Hello,

Do you want to add vertical or horizontal padding?

Hello,

It's hard to provide solution because for one menu item (for example the first menu item) you use background image for element, but for another menu item you use background image for
element.

Thanks, but the easiest solution for me probably is to add the padding to the background itself in Photoshop.
Thanks anyway.
