Sorry, I've just seen that with that code, the menu items no longer change colour when they are hovered over. Do you have any advice to fix that?

Use the following CSS rule:

.dd-nav .ux-menu LI A.ux-menu-link-level-0
{
background-color: transparent;
}

instead of:

.dd-nav .ux-menu LI A.ux-menu-link-level-0
{
background-color: transparent !important;
}
