Problem to set charset on UTF-8 9 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello, before I ask you this question, I already looked for some solutions here on forum, but even I found similiar problems, I could not find the possibility to change the charset in Joomla module preferences. In my MySQL DB I set charset to UTF-8 unicode but when I dynamically load data from database usinf ARI data table, some characters are replaced by "?". When I´am using your module on another site and try to load this databse from external server, than the characters are completely weird and even more of them are replaced by "?".

I don´t know what I am doing wrong. Is there any simple process to change charset directly in the ARI data table module?

thank you for any response.

Hello,

If you load data from a MySQL database, set the parameter to utf8 value.

Hi, thank you for quick reply. That is the problem, I do not know how? Is there any option in ARI data table module or do I have to specify this charset by some command? Thank you for more detail explanation how to achieve it.

Use "Choose source type -> SQL -> Choose DB type -> External database -> Charset name" parameter.

Ok I see, I put "UTF-8" instead of "UTF8" and that cause the problem with formatting. Now it is OK. Thank you for help.
