yes, ideally i would be able to query the db and the table would be built

The extension supports ability to use request variables in "WHERE" clause of "SELECT" SQL query or the module can be loaded with help of "Module Plant" plugin and SQL query can be overriden in plugin code. You can use a custom PHP code to generate query (for example DirectPHP plugin can be used for this purpose). Regards, ARI Soft
