I know this is an old topic, need to know if this solution should also work with the Smart content like:

{arimodule id="93" lenderid="2"}{/arimodule}

I just can't get it to work!

Update "ARI Smart Content" v. 2.2.29 (it updates "ARI Smart Content - Load Module" plugin to v. 1.0.2) and use {$VAR:lenderid} variable in "WHERE" clause of SQL query. A sample query:

SELECT
 id,
 title
FROM
 tbl
WHERE
  ({$VAR:lenderid|empty:''} = '' OR id = {$VAR:lenderid|empty:''})
